Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, reaffirmed the army’s commitment to providing full support in enforcing actions against illegal activities in coordination with law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and other government institutions.
The army chief made the remarks at a province apex committee meeting presided over by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, where he spoke about the military’s goal of preventing the theft of national resources and the economic losses suffered by the country as a result of illicit activities.
During a significant high-level meeting, attendees were briefed on various critical matters, which encompassed the following key points: the updated National Action Plan (NAP), law enforcement operations, anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics efforts in Balochistan, the security of foreign nationals involved in projects associated with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as well as non-CPEC and private ventures.
Additionally, discussions included the repatriation of illegal migrants, measures to regularize foreign currency, and the progress made on the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) initiatives in Balochistan, as reported by the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday.
Chairing the meeting, Prime Minister Kakar expressed his confidence in the accomplishments of the Balochistan government and reassured the province of the federal government’s unwavering support for its plans.
The prime minister stressed that the socio-economic development of Balochistan is of paramount importance in ensuring peace and progress within the province. He also highlighted the federal-level initiatives undertaken by the SIFC, emphasizing their potential to benefit the people in each province.
PM Kakar noted the abundance of mines and minerals in Balochistan, underlining that the development of this sector would stimulate economic activity and job opportunities for the local population. Furthermore, he called for investments in agriculture and information technology (IT) sectors, along with a focus on human resource development.
The premier emphasized the necessity of coordinated efforts among all relevant departments to maximize the positive impacts of these initiatives.
Participants in the provincial apex committee meeting affirmed their unity and commitment to the progress and prosperity of the province, highlighting the collaborative spirit among state institutions, government departments, and the people of Balochistan.
