The temperature in Islamabad plummeted to the freezing point early Tuesday morning, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The city is expected to experience cold and dry weather throughout the day.

Widespread Cold Across the Country

Northern areas such as Murree, Galiyat, and their surroundings are bracing for even harsher conditions. Similarly, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will endure extremely cold temperatures today, as reported by PMD.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hilly regions are forecasted to remain very cold and dry, with fog likely to affect the plains during the early hours.

Punjab will witness similar weather patterns, with chilly conditions prevailing across most districts. Upper regions of the province, including Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur, are expected to experience light fog and haze in the morning.

Sindh and Balochistan Weather Update

Most districts in Sindh will have cold and dry weather, with light fog anticipated in areas such as Sukkur, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Mohenjo-daro.

Northern Balochistan is also in the grip of extreme cold, with temperatures dipping significantly. The region is likely to remain dry and frigid.

Recent Temperature Recordings

Over the past 24 hours, several areas across the country recorded sub-zero temperatures:

  • -1°C: Chitral, Abbottabad, Rawalakot, and Murree
  • -2°C: Bagrot, Gilgit, and Hunza
  • -3°C: Dir
  • -4°C: Malam Jabba, Astore, and Quetta
  • -5°C: Skardu and Kalat
  • -7°C: Gupis-Yasin
  • -13°C: Layyah

This ongoing cold wave highlights the need for residents across affected regions to take precautions and prepare for a prolonged spell of chilly weather.
