Caretaker Minister of Communications Shahid Ashraf Tarar visited the newly established control room at the Ministry of Interior for monitoring security arrangements and law and order during the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Appointed by Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar as Chairman of the Committee for the Security and Administrative Affairs of General Elections 2024, Tarar was briefed on the control room’s operations by the coordinator of the National Action Plan.
Tarar expressed satisfaction with the control room’s functionality, emphasizing its role in monitoring the country’s security and law and order during the elections. He reiterated the caretaker government’s commitment to supporting the Election Commission of Pakistan in ensuring transparent elections.
Tarar pledged to take all necessary measures for security maintenance during the 2024 general elections, emphasizing continuous monitoring and direct communication with stakeholders.
Additionally, he announced plans to visit all provinces to review overall security and finalize arrangements. The general elections are scheduled for February 8, 2024, with the Election Commission of Pakistan already issuing postal ballot papers for eligible voters.
Voters can download the application form from the ECP website and submit their votes to the Returning Officer by January 22.
