According to China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, has played a significant role in bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan, creating over 155,000 local jobs for Pakistanis.
An NDRC official stated at a news conference that CPEC, particularly the development of Gwadar Port and cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and industry, had yielded positive results.
“Multiple highway construction programmes are proceeding as planned.” Power facilities that have begun commercial operation supply approximately one-third of Pakistan’s electrical requirements, thereby alleviating the country’s power shortage,” the official said.
By the end of 2022, CPEC had created 236,000 jobs, of which 155,000 went to Pakistani workers.
