In a surprise move, former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has got admission to the BS Health, Physical Education, and Sports Sciences (HPESS) programme at the University of Karachi (KU).
The 42-year-old batsman was thrilled to take advantage of the opportunity because he was unable to finish his education due to his dedication to professional cricket.
It should be remembered that the University of Karachi offered fully paid scholarships for the squad players, bearing all expenses of the athletes, following the national team’s triumph against India and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021.
At his secretariat, the cricketer from Sargodha met KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. Basit Ansari, the chairman of HPESS, was also present.
“Mohammad Hafeez expressed that he was delighted to be a part of the country’s largest public sector university and hoped that HPESS would help him in achieving his dreams of pursuing higher education,” a press release issued by KU stated.
Hafeez is welcome to the University of Karachi by an Iraqi, who expressed his expectation that the students will benefit greatly from the former captain’s cricketing expertise.
He said that sports are important for the mental and physical development of our younger generation and that they should be taken part in by them as well. Instead of being envious of someone else’s achievement, he advised people to learn from the spirit of competition.
On the professional front, Hafeez represented Pakistan in 55 Tests, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20Is throughout his remarkable career.
