Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has once again addressed his retirement from professional football, stating that it will not be a difficult decision when the time comes. Speaking ahead of Portugal’s Nations League match against Croatia in Lisbon, Ronaldo expressed his readiness to step away from the sport when he feels he can no longer contribute effectively.
“If I feel like I’m no longer contributing, I’ll be the first to leave,” Ronaldo remarked, citing the example of his former teammate Pepe, who retired last August at 41, departing “through the front door.”
Ronaldo acknowledged that public expectations of the national team are often very high, but he believes that challenging times in a footballer’s career are essential for personal growth.
In a recent interview with Portuguese channel NOW, Ronaldo revealed that his decision to retire from the national team will be spontaneous and private. “When I leave the national team, I won’t tell anyone in advance. It will be a spontaneous but well-considered decision,” he said.
For now, Ronaldo remains focused on helping the national team in their upcoming matches, particularly the Nations League, in which he hopes to participate.
Despite rumors, Ronaldo confirmed that he has no plans to leave Al-Nassr, even though his contract with the Saudi Arabian club is set to expire at the end of the current season.
Recently, Ronaldo also launched his YouTube channel, “UR · Cristiano,” where he plans to discuss various topics, including football, family, and nutrition.
As one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo continues to hold the title of the most-followed person on social media, with 917 million followers across various platforms.
