Islamabad, September 4, 2024 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with David Lammy, the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, to review bilateral relations and address regional issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, DPM Dar emphasized the importance of enhancing the Pakistan-UK partnership to advance shared goals, including promoting regional peace and stability. He acknowledged the role of the British-Pakistani community in fostering stronger ties between the two countries.
Dar highlighted key areas of collaboration, such as climate action, youth opportunities, and trade and investment, expressing Pakistan’s intent to deepen the historic relationship into a strategic partnership.
Foreign Secretary Lammy congratulated Pakistan on its election to the UN Security Council and reaffirmed the UK’s support during Pakistan’s term. Both leaders agreed to continue their engagement, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October 2024.
