Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar will head the Pakistan delegation at the upcoming 15th OIC summit scheduled to take place in Banjul, the Gambia on May 4-5, as per a statement from the Foreign Office on Wednesday.
Dar is set to participate in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting ahead of the Summit on 2-3 May, during which the ministers will discuss and finalize the agenda and outcome documents for the Summit.
Given the critical juncture for the Muslim ummah, particularly amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the summit holds significant importance. It offers an opportunity for OIC leaders to address the dire situation in Gaza and present a united stance on the Palestinian question.
During the Summit, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will articulate Pakistan’s stance on the Gaza conflict, the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the necessity of unity among the ummah, the escalating issue of Islamophobia, climate change concerns, terrorism, and other global challenges. He will emphasize the importance of collective action to address the issues facing the Muslim ummah.
Additionally, Foreign Minister Dar will engage in bilateral meetings with leaders and Foreign Ministers from other participating countries on the sidelines of the Summit.
