The government announced on Tuesday that the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) will rise by Rs5 per liter, effective October 16, 2024, due to global oil market fluctuations. As a result, the price of diesel has increased from Rs246.29 to Rs251.29 per liter.
However, the price of petrol remains steady at Rs247.03 per liter.
The Ministry of Finance, in a statement, confirmed that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised consumer prices for petroleum products based on the latest international market trends. These adjustments will remain in effect for the next two weeks, starting October 16.
Over the past five fortnights, the price of HSD has decreased by Rs36.34 per liter, and petrol by Rs28.57 per liter. Prior to this, in July, prices of both petrol and diesel saw significant increases, with petrol rising by Rs17.44 per liter and diesel by Rs15.74 per liter.
