The Government Postgraduate College in Timergara has recently issued directives to its female students, advising them against participating in political gatherings, birthday celebrations, and other extracurricular activities while commuting to and from the campus. These instructions were issued by the college’s chief proctor, Prof Riaz Mohammad, and were circulated to students recently.
Additionally, Prof Riaz Mohammad urged the parents of the female students to maintain communication with the college administration to facilitate improvements in academic standards.
When asked about the rationale behind these directives, Prof Riaz Mohammad defended the decision, stating that it was made in the best interest of the female students and was in accordance with local customs. He cited reports of unpleasant incidents in other co-educational colleges as the basis for this initiative.
