An alarming slowdown in the pace of overall economic recovery in Punjab has been observed by the Lahore-based Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP). The rural areas are continuing to deteriorate in recent months, as per the EVA – Economic Vulnerability Assessment of January 2021.
The EVA was originated from a phone survey, the three rounds June-July 20, September-October 20, and Dec 20-Jan 21, respectively showed stagnated market recovery. The people unemployed in the first round fell 33.7% to 21% in the second round, keeping the same pace in the third round. Similarly, the market showed the fraction of people based on three timelines within the last year and the start of the new year has showed slowed performance in Economic Recovery.
