On the 1st day of nomination paper submissions for the 2024 general election, political candidates nationwide engaged with their respective Returning Officers (ROs) for both National and Provincial Assembly positions.
The three-day submission timeline has commenced, with the 11-page nomination form available for candidates. Women and minority candidates began obtaining their papers a day earlier.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will release the preliminary list of candidates on December 23 after the nomination period concludes.
The ECP officially set the General Elections for February 8, 2024, following a consensus between President Dr. Arif Alvi and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. Initially, there was a disagreement on the election date, but a consultative meeting led to the unanimous decision.
