The Sindh government has provided a list of eight areas in Karachi where cow markets will be constructed ahead of Eidul Adha 2023.
Section 144 was imposed on setting up cow markets in unauthorised sites to minimize “traffic congestion, unsanitary conditions, and security issues,” according to a notification issued by the Sindh Home Department.
The Malir Cantonment Board’s cattle market, which was previously located on the Super Highway, would be relocated to Taiser Town this year, according to the notification.
Meanwhile, here is the complete list of permitted cattle market locations in Karachi:
- Taiser Town, Northern Bypass
- Malir 15, Asoo Goth
- Cattle Mandi Landhi
- Rice Godown, Landhi near Baber Market
- Hamdard University near Manghopir
- Moach Goth, Baldia Town
- Cattle Mandi permitted by the station commander in the limits of Clifton Cantonment Board
- Cattle Mandi permitted by the president of Karachi Cantonment Board in the limits of Karachi Cantonment Board.
Following the changes, SHOs are now empowered to file complaints against violators of Section 144 under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
