Major General Nigar Johar made history last year by being the first female officer to be elevated to the rank of lieutenant general, owing to her outstanding performance in several leadership and administrative responsibilities.
A series celebrating her accomplishments is currently in the works, with actress Mahira Khan playing the lead. A trailer for the forthcoming series has been published, and it shows Mahira repeating the thoughts of Lt Gen Nigar, who aspires to satisfy all of the expectations of those who have appointed and trusted her to lead them so that her performance will open the way for more women in leadership roles.
“Men chahti hun fauj ne jo mujhpe aitimaad kiya hai na, men uspe pura utrun, taakay ye rasta, ye khirki, ye darwaza, jo aurat keliye khula hai, wo khula rahay (With the trust our soldiers have shown So that this window, this door that has opened for women, remains open),” Mahira’s character insists in the trailer.
The Superstar actress has also imitated Lt Gen Nigar’s appearance, dialect, and, to a large part, body movements, but only time will tell if she will be able to master the entire personality. Kubra Khan, on the other hand, has total trust in the star. “My daughter, I know this is going to be wonderful,” she tweeted alongside the latest preview.
Ek Hai Nigar will center on the Lieutenant General’s struggles and achievements. Mahira is overjoyed to have landed the job. The Raees actress has already stated the same on her social media platforms. Mahira released the first teaser for the drama serial on Twitter, stating, “Honoured to be able to play a woman I adore so much, Pakistan Army’s first female three-star general.” Lieutenant General Nigar Johar’s life and career are chronicled in Ek Hai Nigar.” “What a life, what a tale… to know her is to know one of the best we have among us,” she continued.
Bilal Ashraf, Mahira’s Superstar co-star, will also play an important part in the drama serial penned by Umera Ahmed and directed by Motorcycle Girl renowned filmmaker Adnan Sarwar. Lt Gen Nigar has also received the Prime Minister’s Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal for her outstanding service in the Army Medical Corps.
