On Thursday, the lawyer representing the Election Commission of Pakistan informed the Supreme Court that general elections are scheduled to take place on February 11.
Sajeel Swati, the electoral body’s counsel, stated that the process of defining constituencies will be finalized by January 29, paving the way for the upcoming polls.
This revelation came during the Supreme Court’s hearing of several petitions advocating for elections to be held within 90 days following the dissolution of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures.
The three-judge bench, comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, and Justice Athar Minallah, considered the pleas submitted by the Supreme Court Bar Association, the PTI, Munir Ahmad, and Ibad-ur-Rehman.
