Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed his congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif on securing the position of Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time in a recent telephonic conversation.
President Erdogan expressed optimism about the deepening and expansion of relations between Turkey and Pakistan during the new term. The conversation covered various aspects of the bilateral relationship, along with discussions on regional and global issues.
Shehbaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was elected as Pakistan’s 24th Prime Minister after securing 201 votes in a session chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. His opponent, Omar Ayub Khan of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), secured 92 votes.
The oath-taking ceremony for Prime Minister-elect Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled for March 4, with President Arif Alvi administering the oath at the President’s House at 3 pm. The event is expected to be attended by dignitaries, including Army Chief General Asim Munir and caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, along with Chief Ministers and governors from all provinces.
