On Wednesday night, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia from London for a pilgrimage.
After landing at King Abdulaziz Airport, the PML-N leader proceeded to his hotel, where he will spend the last ten days of Ramadan with his family and perform Umrah.
The Saudi Royal authorities reportedly invited the Sharif brothers on pilgrimage, and during their visit, the former PM and his daughter will be special guests of the royal family.
After Eidul Fitr, the 73-year-old Sharif will stay in Doha for a few days before returning to the UK. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s family is already in Jeddah, and the premier is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on the 26th of Ramadan.
The Sharifs have scheduled a meeting with Saudi officials to discuss important matters, as per the ruling party’s statement. However, the rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party views Sharif’s visit with suspicion, claiming that it is an attempt to make backdoor deals and invite foreign powers to interfere in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
