During the first seven months of the current fiscal year (2022-23) compared to the corresponding months of the previous year, the export of sports items from the nation increased by 25.51 percent.
According to data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country exported sports items worth US$ 242.074 million from July-January (2022-23) as opposed to US$ 192.874 million from July-January (2021-2022), showing a rise of 25.51 percent.
Football exports increased by 49.48 percent this year, from US$ 93.186 million to US$ 139.296 million, the largest increase among sports goods.
However, the PBS data showed that the exports of gloves decreased by 2.57 percent, from US$44.614 million last year to US$43.466 million this year.
The exports of all other sports items also grew, going from US$ 55.074 million last year to US$ 59.312 million, a 7.69 percent gain.
In contrast, the export of sports products increased 14.84 percent year over year in January 2023 compared to the export in the same month of last year. Compared to January 2022, when exports of sporting goods were US$29.077 million, January 2023 exports of sporting goods totaled US$33.393 million.
While exports of gloves decreased by 18.59 percent during the study period, exports of footballs and all other sports goods climbed by 27.19 and 22.55 percent, respectively.
In contrast to the exports of US$ 33.963 million in December 2022, the exports of sports items declined by 1.68 percent month over month during January 2023, according to the PBS statistics.
In addition, exports of other sports equipment climbed by 12.055 percent. On a monthly basis, exports of footballs and gloves fell by 2.72 and 15.85 percent, respectively.
