Corinna Schumacher has made an emotional call after the 10-year anniversary of her husband’s accident.
Michael Schumacher’s relatives have emotionally chosen to auction timepieces from the personal collection of the celebrated Formula One driver. Among these, the standout items include custom gifts from ex-Ferrari chief Jean Todt, who is a cherished family ally and one of their most reliable confidants. These particular watches commemorated the German racer’s championship triumphs.
Since a severe brain injury from a skiing accident in December 2013, Schumacher has stayed out of the public eye, and details about his health are tightly protected.
The assortment will be featured in Christie’s traditional rare watches auction, which showcases a mix of vintage and contemporary high-caliber timepieces from esteemed brands like Audemars Piguet, F.P. Journe, and Rolex.
Highlighting the collection is Schumacher’s platinum F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1, representing nearly half the collection’s estimated value, with a potential selling price of up to $2.2 million.
Additionally, a Rolex stainless steel Paul Newman Daytona watch is anticipated to fetch up to $440,000, while Schumacher’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch could reach up to $280,000.
According to Guillemin, the Rolex watch, named after Florida’s Daytona International Speedway, is “one of the most iconic watches that Rolex has ever produced.”
