Kartarpur Corridor Reunites a Christian Family separated during the partition. As per the reports, Mithu is the resident of Mananawala in Nankana district, 74 years ago Shahid Rafiq Mithu’s elder Iqbal Masih separated due to the time of partition 1947. As Iqbal Masih migrated to Pakistan while Inayat (brother of Iqbal) left behind in east Punjab.
Mithu said “ They got to know about each other through a Punjabi News channel a year ago. In that interview, he mentioned the separation of their elders during the partition. As a result, their relatives in Indian Punjab reached them when they saw that interview. Later they planned a reunion meeting at Kartarpur”.
Upon meeting, overall it was an emotional time for both family members. They visited different parts of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and had overwhelming conversations. They also visited the local market for shopping and left with the promise to meet again during their next visit to Gurdwara.
‘I am very happy after meeting Shahid Rafiq Mithu and the rest of the 35 relatives at Kartarpur, ‘ Sono Mithu added.
Both the Families thanked the Pakistan Government for providing this opportunity to reunite families after 74 years. Kartarpur has become a hope for those who have lost their dear ones to the 1947 partition.
