Islamabad’s accountability court, presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir, approved a four-day physical remand for Fawad Chaudhry, the ex-federal minister, in a case involving alleged irregularities in the dual carriageway project.
The hearing, attended by NAB Prosecutor Irfan Bhola and Fawad’s counsel Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, saw arguments leading to the court’s decision. The session was adjourned until January 9.
Fawad Chaudhry, a former leader of the PTI, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on December 16, following a corruption case.
The arrest took place at Adiala Jail after NAB Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt signed the arrest warrant. In June of the same year, Chaudhry was present at the launch of Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), led by former PTI member Jahangir Tareen.”
