The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has increased the tax amount on business class passengers from Rs10,000 to Rs50,000. This change will take effect from July 1, 2022.
All business class passengers who have tickets issued for travel on or after July 1 will be required to pay this difference at the airport.
The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has confirmed that the recent tax hike will not affect the price of their tickets. This is because the planes used by the national carrier do not have business class facilities.
The spokesperson for the airline clarified that on their economy plus class, similar taxes which are applied to the economy class are applied.
