In order to assist international visitors with their currency declaration, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Thursday released a smartphone application called Pass Track. After the app’s launch, Member of Customs Mukarram Jah Ansari informed the media, “The mobile app “Pass Track” has been upgraded to make it easier for travelers to report currency while going to and from Pakistan even before arriving at the airport.
He said that the app’s testing was complete and that numerous additional features had been included to make it simple for users to enter all the necessary data. You may remember that the State Bank of Pakistan announced last month that the cash-carrying restrictions for outgoing travelers would be revised. The FBR has therefore announced the updated cash-carrying limitations.
About the limits for passengers traveling abroad except in Afghanistan, Mukarram Jah said according to the revised notification, the maximum limit per person per visit has been reduced to $5000 and the annual limit has also been set at $30,000.
The maximum cash limit for individuals under the age of 18 has been set at $2500 per visit and the annual limit has also been reduced to $15000. The maximum amount of foreign currency that can be brought into Afghanistan per person and per visit is $1000, while the maximum amount per year is $6000. Any entering travelers with foreign currency above US$10,000 or its equivalent is also obliged to file a declaration, according to Ansari.
Additionally, a maximum of Rs 10,000 can be carried out in Pakistani currency. He added that SBP has made it necessary for anyone carrying foreign currency to submit a declaration to Customs. Pakistan Customs has worked with the National Technology Board (NTTB) to create a web-based mobile App that will allow travelers traveling internationally to electronically file the declaration.
He described the characteristics of the app and noted that it could be downloaded from the Play store and App store. The App also has a web version that is accessible. He claimed that the app makes it simpler for passengers to file declarations by giving them step-by-step instructions, and anyone may register on the app using his or her mobile number. He added that the App will display the prior declaration in the previous calendar year and the available annual limit. Passengers will only need to give personal information once, after which the system will automatically fill out the form upon logging in on the subsequent visit.
