ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to power sector reforms during a meeting with K-Electric’s Chairman, Mark Skelton, on September 10, 2024. The meeting focused on enhancing the efficiency of Pakistan’s power sector and promoting private sector involvement.
Aurangzeb highlighted key reforms, including restructuring the boards of state-owned distribution companies (Discos) by integrating private sector professionals to improve service delivery. He stressed the government’s plan to privatize three Discos in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of fostering private sector leadership in the economy.
K-Electric, Pakistan’s largest private utility, briefed the minister on its plans to meet Karachi’s rising energy demands through renewable energy. Aurangzeb praised K-Electric’s commitment to expanding its operations and pledged full government support for the transition to more affordable and sustainable energy.
