On 9 May, A section of Allama Iqbal International Airport caught on fire causing interruptions in certain flights. A short circuit in the ceiling of the immigration counter caused a huge fire, essentially damaging the immigration system of Lahore Airport. The rescue forces were immediately informed and on account of their prompt action, there was no loss of life. The only harm that endured, was by certain passengers in the immigration area. They had to be evacuated because of the dense smoke from the Fire. Accordingly, they were shifted to the domestic area urgently, as per the Civil Aviation Authority.
There was no disruption in the flow of inbound international flights as they continued to arrive at the Lahore airport without any diversions. However, there were delays in several international flights including those for Hajj. The CAA consequently ensured that all international flights and Hajj flights will continue their process of departures from the domestic lounge.
