During a high-level meeting at the World Bank headquarters in Washington on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and US State Department Assistant Secretary Donald Lu discussed Pakistan’s reform agenda. The discussions included topics such as expanding the tax base, streamlining the energy sector, and advancing privatisation efforts.
Assistant Secretary Lu, accompanied by the State Department’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Horst, reiterated the US’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb, who is in Washington for negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding a new bailout package and to attend World Bank meetings, has also been engaging in discussions with key US officials on the sidelines.
