Comparing the first two months of the current fiscal year (2022-23) to the same period last year, the footwear export increased by 20.91 percent.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan exported footwear worth the US $32.393 million from July through August 2022–23, up from $26.791 million. This represents a growth of 20.91 percent (PBS).
According to the data, the number of footwear exports also climbed by 56.66 percent, increasing from 2,635 thousand pairs to 4,128 thousand pairs. When compared to the previous year, leather footwear exports increased by 22.53 percent, going from $22.832 million to $27.977 million this time around.
The country’s exports of canvas shoes increased by 2171.43 percent from last year, reaching $ 0.159 million in the current fiscal year vs $ 0.007 million. Similarly, during the months under consideration, exports of all other footwear products climbed by 7.72 percent, going from $3.952 million last year to $4.257 million during the current fiscal year.
In the meantime, on an annual basis, footwear exports increased by 14.06 percent in August 2022 compared to the same month in the previous year. Compared to August 2021, when exports totaled $13.646 million, August 2022 saw footwear exports totaling $15.564 million.
The export of leather and all other types of footwear increased by 14 and 14.46 percent, respectively, over the time period under consideration. However, compared to the exports of $16.829 million in July 2022, the PBS data showed a 7.52 percent reduction in footwear commodity exports during August 2022. The exports of leather footwear fell by 4.43 percent on a monthly basis, while the exports of canvas and other footwear fell by 100% and 19.49%, respectively.
