On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif greenlit the reconstitution of the Council of Common Interests (CCI), substituting the finance minister with the foreign minister.
A notification issued on the advice of PM Shehbaz, and in accordance with Article 153 of the Constitution, announced the formation of the eight-member CCI.
PM Shehbaz assumes the chairmanship of the CCI, with all four chief ministers among the council’s members.
The notification further disclosed the inclusion of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Safron Minister Amir Muqam in the CCI.
The CCI serves as the country’s foremost decision-making forum, tasked with resolving disputes between the central government and provinces, particularly concerning the allocation of natural resources.
