The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) urged applicants to apply for the desired Fulbright Student Programme 2024.
According to a news release issued on Thursday, the Fulbright Program in Pakistan is financed by the United States Government and is the world’s largest in terms of financial contribution.
Applications are invited from individuals across various disciplines, encompassing energy, water, agriculture, health, education, environmental science, and climate change. The Fulbright Program, although excluding clinical medicine, actively encourages non-clinical public health applications.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications through http://www.usefp.org by the deadline on February 28, 2024. This esteemed academic exchange initiative comprehensively covers graduate studies, including tuition, maintenance, insurance, and air travel.
All applicants are mandated to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and are required to achieve a minimum score of 145 in both the verbal and quantitative sections. Shortlisted candidates will also undergo the Duolingo English Test.
Reflecting on the Fulbright Program’s impact in Pakistan, US Ambassador Donald Blome remarked, “Pakistani Fulbrighters have tackled social issues, crafted new legislation, advanced policies for inclusive access and representation, and much more. Their efforts are dedicated to a singular purpose: fostering a better, safer, and more prosperous Pakistan. In this pursuit, the United States and Pakistan stand united.”
Since 2005, the Fulbright Programme has provided fully funded scholarships to nearly 3,000 Pakistani students for graduate studies. These scholars have not only completed their academic pursuits but are actively contributing to the public and private sectors, leveraging their acquired knowledge and expertise.
In a message to potential applicants, USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar encourages talented students and professionals to consider applying. “We particularly want to extend our encouragement to applicants from public universities and underserved areas. While Fulbright is a merit-based program, it takes into account the obstacles and challenges applicants have overcome, alongside their achievements, in defining merit.
A key objective of the program is to enhance human capacity in Pakistan, with successful applicants expected to return to Pakistan upon completing their degrees, utilizing their newfound skills and knowledge for the country’s benefit.”
