Despite a gain in gold prices on the worldwide market, prices in the domestic market sank.
According to figures from the All-Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the price of a tola of gold fell by Rs1,500 to Rs233,000, while the price of a gramme of 24-carat gold rose by Rs1,286 to Rs199,760.
The price of the precious metal jumped by $1 on the international market to settle at $1,915 per ounce.
Meanwhile, the price of silver has remained stable at Rs2,850 per tola and Rs2,443.41 per 10 grammes.
