Gold prices in Pakistan saw a significant rise on Wednesday, reflecting the upward trend in international markets. According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of 24-karat gold per tola surged by Rs 3,100, reaching Rs 280,500. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold rose by Rs 2,658, settling at Rs 240,484.
This increase follows a rise in international gold prices, which climbed by $31 to $2,693 per ounce. On Tuesday, the price of gold in Pakistan had already seen an increase of Rs 1,000 per tola.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a slight dip against the US dollar, losing 0.03% during the early hours of trading on Wednesday. Before 10:30 AM, the local currency stood at Rs 278.12, down by seven paise against the greenback.
Despite this minor dip, the rupee has shown a gain of Rs 3.81 (1.37%) against the dollar since the beginning of 2024, and a 0.10% or 29.12 paisa gain during the current financial year.
