In order to commemorate the Constitution’s promulgation 50 years ago, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will release a commemorative coin worth 50 rupees.
The Constitution, which the National Assembly approved on April 10, 1973, was described in the declaration as “the supreme law of Pakistan, intended to direct Pakistan’s law, political culture, and system.”
“It lays out the framework of the state and serves to enshrine and safeguard the population’s fundamental rights, ensuring the safety of each and every citizen of Pakistan.”
The SBP added that 2023 will mark the Golden Jubilee of the Constitution, and that to honor the milestone, the federal government had authorized it to issue an Rs. 50 commemorative coins. Starting on April 14 (tomorrow), the coin will be distributed through the exchange counters at all SBP Banking Services Corporation field offices.
The central bank revealed specifics regarding the design, stating that the coin will be round and composed of two metals—75% copper and 25% nickel. Its size is 30mm, and its weight is 13.5 grams.
The front of the coin will have a crescent moon and a five-pointed star rising in the northwest. Above the star, there would be an inscription reading “Islami Jamhooriya Pakistan” in Urdu writing. At the bottom of the coin, there will be two wheat sprigs with their ends pointed upward. Along with this, the coin is imprinted with its face value of 50 and the term “rupiya” in Urdu script.
A book with the title “The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan” will be depicted in the center of the coin’s reverse side, with the phrase “Golden Jubilee of the Constitution of Pakistan” created in Urdu writing around the outside.
The 50-year period will be mentioned below the book while “50” and “years” will be written in Urdu on the right and left sides, respectively.
