Good news for Pakistani citizens applying for a visa to the United States (US).
The US embassy in Islamabad has stated that visa appointment wait times for Pakistanis will be reduced.
According to the US embassy’s official post on their X formerly Twitter account, “demand for US visas is the highest it has ever been.” We are now processing more visa applications than ever before, and we are working hard to reduce visa appointment wait times.”
To minimise the waiting period for Pakistani visa applicants and fulfill the ‘record demand’ for US visas, the US has proposed three options.
“Firstly, we have accelerated thousands of non-immigrant visa appointments.” More than 10,000 Pakistani visa applicants whose appointments were initially planned for 2024 at the US Consulate General in Karachi have been rescheduled for 2023, with some starting as soon as next week. If you have a visa appointment at the US Consulate General in Karachi in the coming months, please check your e-mail and log in to your account on our website to confirm your accelerated appointment time.”
The second way is that “visa applicants can rebook appointments at either the Consulate General in Karachi or the United States Embassy in Islamabad — whichever works best for them.” We think that this would provide candidates greater freedom and flexibility in finding a suitable date, time, and venue.”
In addition, “beginning September 25, the United States Consulate General in Karachi will begin accepting new interview waiver applications for some applicants who have previously been issued U.S. visas.” Applicants can visit ustraveldocs.com/pk to see if they are eligible, print a confirmation letter, and drop off their application documents at a drop box without an appointment. For qualifying individuals, the US Embassy in Islamabad is now accepting interview waiver applications.”
It is noteworthy that the United States (US) Embassy in Pakistan has announced a new optional visa delivery method to help Pakistanis apply for visas to the country.
