Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman signed the summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly on Saturday.
According to sources, the governor of Punjab signed the summary at Pervaiz Elahi’s recommendation. They claim that following a discussion with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a notification regarding the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly will be released shortly.
The change occurs two days after Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman received a report from chief executive Pervaiz Elahi asking for the dissolution of the state assembly.
In a brief one-line advice addressed to Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman, Elahi said: “I Parvez Elahi, chief minister of Punjab, hereby advise you to dissolve the provincial assembly.”
After Elahi’s meeting with Imran, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry told the media that Elahi had signed the summary and the recommendations had been sent to the governor of Punjab.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly would be disbanded “the day after tomorrow,” according to Fawad.
It is important to note that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry disbanded the parliament on Thursday morning after receiving a vote of confidence from the PA during a special session of the provincial parliament.
The session in which PTI member and leader PA Mian Aslam Iqbal presented a resolution expressing confidence in the Chief Minister was presided over by Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan.
According to the speaker, 186 members of the ruling coalition reposed confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister while the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) boycotted the session.
