The government announced on Friday its decision to maintain the current petrol price for the upcoming fortnight, while reducing the cost of High Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs1.77 per litre.
For the next 15 days, petrol will retain its price at Rs279.75 per litre, whereas HSD will now be available at Rs285.56 per litre.
These revised prices will come into effect from March 16. Earlier reports had suggested that the government might opt to keep the ex-depot prices of petroleum products unchanged from March 16-31, in light of the holy month of Ramazan.
In the preceding review, the interim government had left the diesel price unaltered but had raised the petrol price by Rs4.13 per litre.
