On Tuesday, the federal government made a key decision to begin the 15-year outsourcing of operations at Islamabad International Airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) published an international procurement and requested that all bids be submitted by November 8.
Efforts to reach an agreement between civil aviation employees and the government on the thorny issue of airport outsourcing fell short a few days ago, leaving the employees’ union, JIKA, with little alternative but to continue their protest until their demands are met.
Addressing the media during the protest, JIKA Secretary Sheikh Khalid made it clear that under no circumstances would they allow the outsourcing of airports.
He reiterated that the protest movement would endure until their demands are acknowledged and approved.
