Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Minister of Industries and Production, said the government is reducing the urea price to 1768 rupees a bag to help farmers.
He said the government will not allow unjustified urea price rises while chairing a meeting in Islamabad. According to Syed Murtaza Mahmud, the government would develop a vehicle registration, tracking, and verification system to ensure that farmers receive appropriate and timely supplies of vital soil nutrients throughout the Kharif season.
The government has restored gas supplies to fertilizer facilities, according to the Minister of Industries, and will continue to provide uninterrupted gas supplies for domestic production.
According to him, the government has chosen to offer direct payments to farmers via the Ministry of Food Security and Provincial Governments.
The meeting decided to set up a task force to thwart cross-border trafficking of urea.
