In response to the two petitions seeking vaccinations of people in the Sindh High Court, the Ministry of National Health Services has informed the SHC that a cabinet committee for Covid-19 vaccine procurement has been set up and an amount of $150 million is also allocated.
The ministry of health submitted that they have done successful negotiations with the World Bank (WB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) to arrange resources for the acquisition of vaccines for 10 million and 13.5m people, respectively.
Meanwhile, negotiations are in process to start shared local production with chinese firm CanSinoBio by collaboration with the National Institute of Health, it maintained.
The ministry further replied that 1.5m doses of Sinopharm vaccine had been received through a grant and 1m doses through procurement and 60,000 doses of CanSinoBio were also procured.
