The federal government has made an announcement to slash the Petrol price, resulting in a significant reduction of up to Rs8 per litre. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed this decision during a televised address. Following the price adjustment, petrol will now be available at Rs262 per litre after a reduction of Rs8, while diesel will be priced at Rs253 per litre after a decrease of Rs5.
The revised prices are set to take effect from 12am tonight and will remain unchanged for the next two weeks, providing stability in the cost of petroleum products. Minister Dar also highlighted the cumulative reductions observed in May, with petrol prices having decreased by a total of Rs20 per litre and diesel prices lowered by Rs35 per litre.
This decision by the federal government is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on the public and ensuring more affordable access to essential commodities.
