Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar said on Thursday that he would unveil an economic recovery plan in a few days.
Solangi told the media that the interim administration would hold the general election on the date designated by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
“The election will be held on the date announced by the Election Commission,” he stated. “We stand by the Election Commission’s position because we have no intention of restoring its powers,” he continued.
The minister stated that the ECP was required by Article 51 of the Constitution to carry out the delimitation procedure and that the election supervisor had already prepared a plan in this regard.
He added that, in accordance with Article 218(3) of the Constitution, the caretaker government would provide full support to the ECP in order to hold free, fair, and transparent elections.
Solangi stated that the next elected government would inherit a stronger economy from the caretaker government. He went on to say that the interim finance minister would offer an economic recovery plan in a few days.
