According to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the government will relaunch the laptop scheme this year under the banner of the Prime Minister Youth Programme.
The SAPM announced today at a press conference that 100,000 computers will be distributed to youth under the scheme.
She expressed regret that the previous government had put an end to the scheme, but she pointed out that laptops provided by the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government allowed youth to continue their study and occupations during COVID-19.
According to Shaza, the government has also launched the National Innovation Award to promote startup culture among young people.
According to the SAPM, the government is also emphasising the development of healthy activities among adolescents.
As part of these efforts, she stated that during the last year, around 54,000 children participated in various games. She remembered hockey trials being held in twenty-five regions and volleyball trials being held in twenty-eight locations.
The SAPM also announced that registration for football trials for youth from around Pakistan has begun.
