The Gilgit Baltistan government is working hard to develop and advance the region by leveraging the UK’s hydroelectric and tourism potential.
This was expressed by Mushtaq Hussain, Gilgit Baltistan’s Minister of Water and Energy, during a speech today on Pakistan News and Current Affairs Channel with Local Government Minister Haji Abdul Hameed.
He said energy projects worth millions of rupees have been completed in Gilgit Baltistan to provide uninterrupted power to the people of the region.
Mushtaq Hussain said 22 hydroelectric power plants are currently in operation in the region, 25 generators have been leased and there are no tax breaks in Gilgit Baltistan’s major cities during peak hours.
Speaking about the development of tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said the maximum services are provided to tourists, including uninterrupted electricity and clean drinking water.
Mushtaq Hussain emphasized Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special interest in the development of Gilgit-Baltistan and said the federal government has approved 3,913 posts for Gilgit Baltistan.
Local government minister Haji Abdul Hameed, who took part in the program, said Gilgit Baltistan is blessed with beautiful picnic areas, including meadows, rivers, valleys, and high mountains.
He said the government is providing funds to develop all sectors, including tourism because there is a huge income-generating capacity in this area.
