The Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI), operating under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has launched a groundbreaking agricultural transformation program aimed at enhancing sustainable farming practices and technological advancements across Pakistan.
Modern Farming Infrastructure and Education
As part of this initiative, 25 Green Agriculture Malls and Smart Agriculture Farms have been established across Punjab. These facilities serve as educational hubs, providing farmers with hands-on training in modern farming techniques. The model farms in Perowal and Muzaffargarh act as demonstration centers, showcasing efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.
Transforming Cholistan’s Barren Lands
In Cholistan, GPI has undertaken an ambitious project to convert barren lands into arable farmland using advanced irrigation systems. This initiative focuses on water-efficient irrigation, soil fertility enhancement, and drought-resistant farming techniques to increase agricultural productivity in the region.
Shift Towards Corporate-Style Farming
GPI’s framework highlights a major shift in Pakistan’s agricultural sector—moving from traditional to corporate-style farming. The initiative integrates:
- High-quality seeds for improved crop yields
- Modern farming technology to enhance efficiency
- Advanced irrigation systems for optimal water management
- Sustainable agricultural practices to ensure long-term productivity
By equipping farmers with innovative tools and knowledge, GPI aims to boost Pakistan’s agricultural output, ensuring food security and economic growth.
