Pakistan is expected to continue its sponsorship scheme for Hajj 2024, aimed at easing the financial burden of arranging US dollars for the pilgrimage. Under this sponsorship initiative, the cost of Hajj expenses will be calculated in terms of Pakistani currency, and having a Pakistani passport will be a prerequisite to benefit from this program.
According to sources within the Pakistan Religious Ministry, around 10,000 individuals will have the opportunity to undertake Hajj in 2024 through this sponsorship scheme, and they will be exempt from the usual selection process. Pakistan’s Hajj quota for 2024 is set at 179,201, with 50% reserved for government-sponsored pilgrims and the remaining 50% for private schemes.
In a significant development, Pakistanis will now have the opportunity to perform Hajj over a longer period, extending from 20 to 25 days, according to sources within the Religious Ministry.
The draft of the Hajj 2024 policy has been submitted to the federal cabinet for approval, and it is anticipated to receive the green light in the near future. Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed, has also confirmed that the Saudi Arabian government will provide enhanced facilities and services for Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj 2024. These improvements will encompass accommodations, meals, and transportation, ensuring a more comfortable and convenient experience for the pilgrims.
