Hamas has extended an invitation to Elon Musk to visit Gaza and witness the aftermath of the conflict with Israel. The invitation, made by senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan, came after Musk’s recent visit to an Israeli kibbutz targeted by Hamas.
During the visit, Musk expressed commitment to countering hatred. Hamdan urged Musk to visit Palestine for a more comprehensive perspective.
In a press conference in Beirut, Hamdan stated, “We invite him to visit Gaza to see the extent of the massacres and destruction committed against the people of Gaza, in compliance with the standards of objectivity and credibility.” He highlighted the significant impact of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, emphasizing that more than 40,000 tonnes of explosives were dropped on Gazan homes in just 50 days.
Musk, criticized for alleged anti-Semitism and promotion of violence on his social media platform, visited Israel and witnessed the devastation in Kfar Aza. He asserted that Israel had “no choice” but to eliminate Hamas. Musk also reached an agreement regarding Starlink satellite units, stating they would only operate in Israel with the approval of the Israeli Ministry of Communications.
Hamdan called on the U.S. to reconsider its relationship with Israel, urging a halt to weapons supply, and appealed to the international community to send specialized civil defense teams to assist in recovering bodies from beneath the rubble in Gaza. The situation remains complex, with differing perspectives on the underlying causes and potential solutions.
