Karachi Kings’ vice-captain, Hassan Ali, has issued a clarification following his controversial statement about former captain Babar Azam, which had gone viral after the team’s defeat to Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 10). In a post-match press conference, Hassan explained that his remark, “King will do it,” was not meant to offend anyone. He acknowledged that if his words caused any misunderstanding, he sincerely apologized but stood firm in his respect and support for Babar, whom he referred to as “our product.”
Hassan emphasized the importance of Babar Azam to the Karachi Kings, stating that he remains behind the star batter and that Babar is “our best player” who will bounce back from the recent performance dip. Hassan also clarified his earlier statement, which had sparked a stir on social media: “We made Babar the King, and we will bring him down.” He reaffirmed that his comments were never intended to undermine Babar but were instead a reflection of the passion and competitiveness within the game.
The pacer also spoke out about the impact of public criticism, stressing the difference between constructive feedback and personal attacks. While he acknowledged that feedback for improvement is part of the sport, he condemned personal jibes and family-related insults that players often face from fans. Hassan called for more respectful discourse, highlighting the emotional toll such attacks can take on players, and reiterated that the team aims to respond through better performances.
On Karachi Kings’ recent loss to Lahore Qalandars, Hassan reflected on the team’s struggles, particularly in building partnerships and executing their batting plans. He admitted that some shots played under pressure were unnecessary and that the team’s focus in upcoming matches will be to address these issues in team meetings to improve their performance.
Looking ahead, the 29-year-old fast bowler expressed his determination to make a return to the national team. He remains committed to performing well for Karachi Kings, believing that continued success will open doors to further opportunities with Pakistan.
