Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir was recently questioned about potential problems between him and Pakistan’s current captain, Babar Azam.
In response, Amir underlined that there were no underlying issues between them and emphasised Babar’s constant respect for him.
“Babar was my junior when I was playing for Pakistan, and he has always respected me,” Amir told a local TV station.
Amir added irony to his statement by joking, “Babar is not my ex-fiance that I won’t like him.”
Amir’s remark emphasised that their relationship is strictly professional, and any claims of personal hatred between them are unfounded.
Amir has recently addressed his previous statement about Babar, claiming that he never referred to the Pakistan captain as an ordinary player or a tailender.
Amir lauded Babar’s skill and termed him the best batter in Pakistan when chatting on his YouTube channel.
“First, I’d like to question individuals who have distorted this situation. Show me one interview where I said Babar is a mediocre player or a tailender. In all of my interviews, I have named him Pakistan’s best batsman, which I am stating with my own lips, and I have stated numerous times that bowling against him in ODI and Test matches is difficult owing to his technique. So, would I refer to him as a tailender?” He inquired.
“My point was that taking wickets is important for me because it benefits the team,” he continued.
