Israeli airstrikes resulted in the loss of more than 200 lives overnight in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian health ministry’s announcement on Monday.
The ministry reported that “over 200 individuals lost their lives during the overnight attacks.” It should be noted that this death toll accounts for only the casualties in Gaza City and the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
On Monday, Israel initiated a series of “significant” strikes on Gaza as its military engaged with Hamas in the region. These actions were taken despite ceasefire appeals from UN aid agencies, which strongly condemned the escalating number of civilian casualties during the month-long conflict.
In response to the Hamas attacks on October 7, Israeli forces have continued their relentless bombardment of the Gaza Strip and have also deployed ground troops. According to the Palestinian health ministry, the conflict has claimed the lives of 9,770 people, with approximately two-thirds of the casualties being women and children.
