ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced scholarships for students from Gilgit-Baltistan who plan to pursue undergraduate studies in the 2024-25 academic year. These scholarships are available for students enrolling in four or five-year BS programs at HEC-recognized public sector universities and degree-awarding institutions across Pakistan.
The scholarships are part of the “Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for the Students of Gilgit-Baltistan in Top Pakistani Universities/Institutions (Batch-IV)” and cover all fields of study.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must possess a domicile or local certificate of Gilgit-Baltistan.
- They must have completed their Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or an equivalent qualification.
- Applicants who are already receiving other scholarships are not eligible.
- The maximum age limit is 22 years as of the application deadline.
- Candidates must meet both HEC and university admission criteria for BS programs.
Scholarship Coverage:
- Tuition fees, hostel fees, and other charges up to Rs. 240,000 per year.
- A monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000.
- Book and travel allowances totaling Rs. 30,000 per annum.
Important Notes:
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the Aptitude Test, conducted by the Education Testing Council (ETC) of HEC, along with their academic records.
- To qualify for the scholarship, candidates must score at least 50% on the test, which will remain valid for one year.
- Students already enrolled in a BS program at public sector universities before the advertisement (for up to one academic year) are also eligible.
- Scholarships will be awarded on merit, without discrimination based on gender, caste, race, or religion.
- Applications are open for any public sector university or institution in Pakistan.
- HEC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the scholarship process without prior notice.
How to Apply:
- Applications must be submitted online through the HEC portal.
- Only complete applications will be considered, and applicants must click “Submit” after completing their forms.
- Applicants should keep their application ID and payment receipt for reference.
- A non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 must be deposited via the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) online facility. Bank details are provided in the advertisement.
- Application forms must include a scanned copy of the paid fee challan.
