To increase the standard of education, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) and Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) on Thursday announced the launching of the first-ever annual contest of ‘University of the Year’ for the public universities.
The HED and PHEC have increased criteria for assessing the academic and administrative excellence of public universities in Punjab. The assessment of a total of 30 universities will be done annually by the experts in the field and the one securing the highest marks in the scoring grid shall be declared the ‘University of the Year’.
The competition will be organized in two different categories. The first category would be of the universities established before 2010 and second those established after 2010.
The criteria for the assessment include innovations, new start-ups, and product development while faculty development, internationalization, and fund generation have also been prioritized.
